Podiatry deals with the mechanics of the feet, posture and gait. Podiatrists identify ways in which your feet and stance may be causing problems like back aches or poor posture, and recommend the right corrective insoles to give the right support for your body.
Chiropodists typically treat more topical/dermatological issues such as verrucae, ingrown toenails, athlete’s foot, and excessive sweat or odour.
At Blackshots we have a trained and experienced podiatrist/chiropodist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. We are a welcoming family clinic, and booking an appointment is quick and easy with our online booking system.
Podiatry, like osteopathy, deals mainly with biomechanics. We can identify where postural issues and aches and pains are caused by foot and gait problems, and recommend the appropriate corrective insoles for your unique case. We can also treat musculoskeletal foot problems like plantar fasciitis (‘policeman’s heel’).
Chiropody treats all typical foot complaints such as fungal infections, verrucae, sweat and odour, and ingrown toenails.
Booking is quick and easy with our online system, allowing you to select the appointment you want, and to book and pay online.
If there is anything you would like to discuss before making an appointment, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Please also note we have a 24h cancellation policy.

If you are coming to the clinic for podiatry, your practitioner might examine your standing posture, and ask you to carry out simple movements like walking and squatting, in order to assess the mechanics of your feet and gait. If you are have a musculoskeletal problem such as plantar fasciitis, this is typically treated using hands-on techniques such as palpation and massage, in the same way as during osteopathic treatment.
For chiropody, a visual examination is usually enough for the practitioner to begin treatment. Chiropody uses a wide range of treatment methods including topical creams, freezing, scraping, and extremely minor surgery under local anaesthetic (as in the case of ingrown toenails). Your practitioner will explain the right course of treatment for you at your first appointment, and answer any questions you may have.
Podiatry and chiropody are very gentle therapies, and your appointment should be a positive and relaxed experience.
Your practitioner will begin by discussing your symptoms with you and examining any affected areas. They will then give you an assessment of your problem, explain how it can be treated, and give you an idea of how many sessions you are likely to need.
If you need corrective insoles, your practitioner will examine your stance and body mechanics and recommend the most appropriate product for you. If you require chiropodist treatment, your practitioner will begin treating you at your first appointment, following the initial assessment.
We are a small and friendly clinic consisting of Paul, Taylor and Hema. We’ve worked together as a team for over five years, and pride ourselves on a welcoming and professional approach.
